Being able to share the wonderful experience of Tai Chi/Qigong and the Meditations in class with people on the same path is so satisfying.
What are the benefits of Tai Chi and Qigong?
Tai Chi and Qigong are exercises as well as moving meditations. You will move every muscle, joint, bone, and organ of the body but in a slow and methodical way. Breathing techniques will enhance your practice. The exercises, specifically for the joints, will help you maintain your flexibility and regain some of the lost flexibility. This is a very gentle program and therefore is perfect for most people. The exercises have many benefits, with on going practice, these include: stress reduction, improved circulation, the lessening of arthritic and other pain, an increase in flexibility, improved balance. This moving meditation will help you to develop focus and concentration but also to build the feeling of peace and harmony within.
This continuing journey bought me on the path of Reiki healing. I am now a Reiki ll Practitioner with the Dr. Usui system of natural healing. This is a beautiful experience to share with people. This type of healing is a simple and powerful process. The external energy, of which there is an unlimited supply, passes through the hands to wherever it is needed in the body. Stress is released and there is a deep feeling of relaxation and profound well being for the receiver and also the practitioner.
What is offered in Class:
A 15 minute warm-up at the beginning of class is essential for the practice of your Tai Chi/Qigong lessons.
37 Movement Cheng Man-ch’ing Tai Chi Form – non Martial
This form was developed by Professor Cheng Man-ch’ing. The approach to our practice of this Form is similar to the Yang Style Long Form and merely omits most of the repetitions.
Qigong Sequences Practised:
18 Stances of Tai Chi Qigong
The movements are also known as the ‘18 Chinese Medicals’. These eighteen movements are performed in a slow, continuous flowing movement with mindfulness, focusing on breath work, working with the body’s energy channels (Meridian system). Long term practice gives long term benefits to the mind, body and spirit.
Eight Pieces of Silk Brocade
These stand alone movements are also known as Ba Duan Jin. This is a set of eight exercises which has been practised unchanged throughout China for nearly 1000 years, are performed to invigorate and strengthen the whole body including the internal organs.
Short sequences
These sequences of movement in short form are offered and practised, these have great benefit to release any tension and stress in the body and can be learned in a shorter period of time.
Meditation:
Guided meditations are practised in class. This is an important process within Tai Chi and Qigong practice, as the result of continued Meditation in class can help you achieve a sense of inner peace and awareness. Taking time in your busy day to give some time to meditate, can help you through your day by helping you centre yourself and in achieving a state of inner calm.
Please be aware it takes time to learn Tai Chi and Qigong, so allow yourself the time to learn.
